Day 6

I started my church visiting in Hong Kong. I tried to remember the few things I've learned at FOCUS. We shouldn't choose a church because of its convenient location. Shouldn't always focus on what this church can give you but rather should see if there are any serving opportunities. Well I guess I can only find these out after more visits and to their fellowship maybe.

The first church I visited was 恩福. I went there with Miss G, my ex-UNSW "colleague"(same building but different boss) and future "colleague" (different organization but same boss). The church building was huge as expected. The gift/book store near the entrance gave me the commercial impression as the first time I went to Hillsong convention centre@Sydney. The worship team was great despite the little conflict between the pianist and the keyboard player. I was touched by the song《選擇相信》- the lyrics "我選擇相信你,我選擇不放棄" kept lingering in my heart. When I youtubed it I can't believe it was originally in some "David Tao" R&B style. Back to the topic, the prayer before the sermon was one of the shortest I've ever heard in my life but it was sincere enough. "主啊, 求祢賜下恩言。" The sermon was surprisingly touching The speaker raised a few interesting questions for Christians. I can also feel her love for the congregation when her 聲音梗咽 a few times. She pointed out Christians nowadays tend to do the minimum to please themselves or to make themselves feel that they have passed certain requirements to be called a Christian. So the point she made was basically -"Why do you want to be a just-passed Christian when the salvation given to you was way more than just 'passed'?" Second point she made was Christians kept asking why can't we do this or that. Then we fell to the old trap of treating the laws as law only, rather than we do all these because we love God and we follow his commandments willingly to please Him. It was a great sermon. The last thing that got my attention was - they are recruiting certified first-aiders to form a risk management team during big events. I am keen to apply what I've learned in the first-aid course and all the OH&S courses before I forgot all of them. Let's see how things go.

After lunch at Langham Place, I decided to walk home for a few reasons, to get familiar with the streets and to burn some fat. ^^ I am not a car fan but on the way home I saw two nice cars . Mini cooper in a mini-exhibition at Langham Place and an eye-catching orange Lamborghini on the street.

Everyone kept asking me where exactly do I live. I finally found a good way of describing since I noticed the rather famous historical building near my place - 雷生. It works most of the time and if fails the next thing I will try is 金鳳餐廳. And if it still doesn't work then I will give up. Oh one of the funniest reactions I've got so far was " Oh I thought no one lives at 雷生? how come?" I said "Obviously I don't live in 雷生 my dear, I just said I live near it." lol.

Tonight I had a visitor to my place - Mr.J, my uni coursemate, who insisted to have a look at how big is my apartment. ^^ I guess he is satisfied now. He also showed me the way to Sham Shui Po . We walked there and had dinner at 西九龍中心.
